MASALA FLAVORS
Goan Style Ambadeachem Sasav | Hog Plum Sasam
Ingredients
7-10 Ambade/Hog Plum
1 Cup freshly grated coconut
1 Cup Jaggery
5 to 7 dry bedagi red chillies
Oil for tempering
1 Tsp Coriander seeds
1 Tsp Methi/Fenugreek seeds
1 Tsp Mustard seeds
Lemon size Tamarind
8 to 10 curry leaves
Pinch of hing/asafoetida
Salt to taste
Method:
Step 1 :- Clean and peal the Hog plum and keep aside.
Step 2:- Dry roast bedagi red chillies and coriander seeds till it releases aroma.
Step 3:- Grind the roasted masala along with grated coconut and tamarind.
Step 4 :- Heat oil in a Kadai/Pan.
Step 5:- Add mustard seeds, methi seeds, Asafoetida, curry leaves and Hog plums.
Step 6:- Give it a quick stir.
Step7:- Add a cup of water.
Step 8:- Add Jaggery and give it a mix.
Step 9:- Cover the lid and let it cook on low flame for 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 10:- Add the ground masala and some water.
Step 11:- Add Salt to taste and mix well.
Step 12:- Cover the lid and cook the gravy for 2 to 4 minute more.
