Calling all LIQUOR RUN fans! Christian and Rolly pour a glass of Rose and discuss famous watches - including Marlon Brando and Paul Newman's Rolexs - and how their value risks declining should its prior owner fall out of favor in the public eye. That conversation, plus affordable loafers, quick-release straps, and more! One of the things that has become immensely popular in the last several years is the question of provenance when it comes to your watch. In other words: "Who owned this watch before me?" While, much of the time, it is probably someone not very famous or culturally significant, there have been quite a few watches belonging to some very famous people hitting the auction block in the last several years, from Paul Newman's Paul Newman Daytona to Marlon Brando's GMT from Apocalypse Now. With that, though, comes some difficulty -- namely, what happens if the person behind the watch turns out to be less than what we thought of them? If we learned tomorrow that, for example, Paul Newman was a terrible person (not that anyone expects that to be the case), would that not impact the value of a watch with his name attached to it? It's all speculation, but it does play into just how risky an investment these kinds of watches can be. Now onto affordable loafers -- G.H. Bass and their Weejuns line of loafers is damn near impossible to beat for the price, no doubt. To step things up a bit, Allen Edmonds is another highly respectable brand that makes an incredible product. To go even one step above, you could look at the Alden 986, a classic Penny Loafer with a ton of heritage and style. Now for Oris' new fully bronze chronograph with a bronze bracelet. It's a unique watch with a ton of personality, and it really does inspire a broader conversation about other unique watches that could theoretically be executed in bronze, such as the Cartier Tank. The bracelets are super elegant, too, which helps them stand out tremendously from their counterparts in the price range. Cowboy boots with a tux? If you can do it right, and it's who you are, then go for it! It's a very popular thing to do in the south, especially around Texas, and it's a look that plenty of people can pull off, so if it works for you, then there's no reason not to embrace it.
