With the popularity of Monster Hunter increasing every year, it's only natural that some of the bigger publishers are taking notice and creating games with similar ideas. @emerald36168 years ago how much do you want to bet someone played this then saw monster hunter and was like "THIS IS JUST A STUPID CLONE OF FINAL FANTASY EXPLORERS"... there is always that one person. 92

@mannyslained8 years ago Hey Game Taco, i'm really loving your Monster Hunter Clones series, i had wanted someone to make one of these for a long ass time. Some games i've played like Monster Hunter you could probably use to expand this series are: Soul Sacrifice, Gods Eater Burst, Lord of Arcana, Freedom Wars, Phantasy Star Online and maybe even Dragon's Dogma (Even though it separates itself from MH in a lot more things than the previously mentioned.) Keep up the good work :) ... 6

@elricevan8 years ago Would say it's similar to monster hunter, just without the dodging or graphics and it's super easy. But it's still fun. 4

@Brolly-hh7hx8 years ago Hey, do you plan on making a video about Lord of Arcana and/or Lord of Apocalypse? 5

@SylemGistoe8 years ago I think most people reeeeeeally don't like lightning ...but it wont stop square enix from shoving her down our throats at every possible convenience. Man, i love final fantasy.... and monster hunter, so i was pretty hype for this game, but never actually got it... I was scared the gameplay would just be pretty mashy, pressing a single button over and over again with no dodging. I didn't think i'd so desperately pine for the flowing evasive combos of sword and shield, the dial-a-buff fun of the hunting horn, or the explosive parries of the charge blade. I suppose skill ceiling of monster hunter was perhaps my favorite part. Can't wait for your next one of these- God Eater Burst was, for it's time back in the psp era, pretty amazing to me for a hunting game- actually having a plot with characters, a bleak world that would kill them, and still having some cool fighting mechanics, even if the weapon choices were really limited- it holds a soft spot for me and i'm glad that namco bandai made an effort to push it with re-releases and a sequel i hope one day comes out here. ... 5

@dragonrooby87148 years ago I like your videos and your gaming personality. (Also it's nice to find other MH YouTubers that I enjoy who aren't Gaijin Hunter.) 1

@rio9231008 years ago Now I'm used to grinding, but with monster hunter, you know where to go to get which items, in this, you either have to look it up or go grind random things, you can't check items until you get them and if you use them, you can't check them again. Some items don't even drop even if you break all parts, changing classes requires you to either gear that class our with the highest stuff you can or go on low rank quests to train your skills, beastmaster isn't a viable class online since you need monsters to use it, and what's the point of healing classes offline. I tried blue mage but it didn't give me the learning ability, not sure if glitched or what. Online messages can be changed but only while offline. lastly, like you said, almost no one plays and it makes it hard to grind if you can't kill things solo ... 1

@lesserz63108 years ago Fellow (old-new school) monster hunter player here too. Currently playing MHGen, and feeling burnt out and wondering if I'm wasting my time after hearing about MHXX (double cross). So I'm looking into finding something to fill that itch. Soul Sacrifice and Toukiden look promising, maybe..? Even this FF game caught my attention. If I can choose a mage and cast vanish on the monster and x-zone on it, or play as a ninja and throw Excalibur (after duping it a bunch of times), then I'm all in on this game. Or maybe I'll just take a break and go back to Dark Souls series for awhile. ... 3

@theonefrobelow968 years ago for square enix first attempt at a game like this it wasnt that bad yeah there was a ton of repetition in levels and missions but it was enjoyable i just hope if they make a game like this, they wont have so much repetition and increase the number of monster in the game especially the bosses ...

@SirLaguna8 years ago Great video! I was thinking on buying this game but now I'm doubting it because of what you say about few people playing it online. I like this game because of their online component.
    Oh well.

  • @
@DashFennec8 years ago ive played this game alot, the only thing like MH is the equipment crafting process, but gameplay its more like Phantasy Star Online, like exactly like PSO

@Fiercewid3 years ago I'm just saying i need a port or sequel to this game on the switch. It's literally perfect to upgrade this game to the switch i want it

@Soulbane908 years ago My Dragoon was so OP it was not even funny anymore... Also multiplayer with 3-4 people was almost unplayable. The lag was so bad even on N3DSXL. I regret buying this game at full price so much. 1

@garrettpreston41368 years ago have you tried God Eater? I have only heard about it, but it looks very similar to monster hunter, think it's Sony exclusive though

@rhuntern8 years ago I really liked it in the beginning, but the more I play, the most I dislike it. To me, it feels incredibly slow and lacking any charm/emotion. There's no setup for why you're doing what you do in the game, and most areas feel really empty. The combat isn't super engaging, but it isn't awful. I liked Fantasy Life, which I think is probably a better comparison than Monster Hunter, but FFExplorers lacks the charm that made the grinding in Fantasy Life so much better. ... 2

@krazytaxicabbie8 years ago It's more of a phantasy star online clone. The only reason it's compared to MH is cause that is the only game relevant atm. PSO came out YEARS ago. I've played both. And YES the game does lag really bad during online play! The "kill 10 dragons" anyone? ... 2

@omegaXjammur7 years ago When talking about graphics, people need to understand that this is a Nintendo system. Game developers can say screw the graphics and opt for interesting art style, in this case being pulled from FF3 (DS remake) and Bravely Default. ...

@charliegreen56808 years ago This game looks pretty cool! I might have to get it and give it a go.

@TarisRedwing7 years ago I loved this game and played the shit out of it with the normal VGR MH community I play with. 2
  • @
@thetable50048 years ago I think the april fools about this video, is that he said "I don't think that this game is classified as a Monster Hunter clone", but he puts the game on a Monster Hunter clones video.
  • @
@TANKTREADlast year I found this game to understand more easily than Monster Hunter.
  • @
@topbowgunner8 years ago Only thing that this game has is not monster hunter is you can be a hero from a pass ff game but monster hunter will always be the best
  • @
@Foril898 years ago I trusted Squire Enix too with a MH clone. Then they released Lords of Arcana. That game was a mess. I gave them a second chance with Final Fantasy Explorers. It is a step in the right direction but still not something I would call amazing. I think if they just flesh out the graphics a bit (not saying the Graphics have to be amazing but just not so pixlated) and allow you to take NPCs with you on a quest that are not monsters but actual humanoids with classes, then this game could be something really special. ...

@josecarmelo75988 years ago You recommend it? Is it fun? I find Monster Hunter too stressful. Especially with all the work I put into Tri I dont want to start over on another MH game.
  • @
@JanderStrahd8 years ago This game is totally a Lord of Arcana clone. Coincidence?
    (No.)

@adamsbarnard62815 years ago You can tell how many kids are playing games nowadays when you talk about games being a clone of Monster Hunter when Monster Hunter itself is a clone of way too many old school games lmao. All new games are clones of old games just with better graphics. I haven't seen anything original since ps2. ... 1

@akmalrosli48598 years ago no matter how many clones created but Monster Hunter is the best in my opinion..god eater fall to no 2
  • @
@EQOAnostalgia8 years ago Yeah they should just ditch the Lightning shit now, it was in XIV and now this and those games were utter f'ing trash. Great review! I enjoy this game and been a MH fan since the first one on PS2. I'll definitely be checking out this whole series. ...

@jw65882 years ago I have no nostalgia for Final Fantasy games because the gameplay was so drawn out and boring.
Hot take? I dunno that's just why I stopped playing them past FF5.
  • @
@thundrakion8 years ago you have no evade because you have much more health than you have on monster hunter. 1
  • @
@Infernalicon7 years ago they should have just made a Sequel to Lords of arcana, that game could have been a lot more than just a psp forgettable
  • @
@brianestrada19935 years ago I played nearly all of the monster hunter clones and I gotta say this one was the worst
  • @
@bluebird11946 years ago It's not really a clone at all and capcom should be fine with this. When monster Hunter makes a crossover event with final fantasy no one bats a eye but when final fantasy makes something similar to monster Hunter everybody goes ducking crazy ...
