The Mary Rose – Henry VIII's Favourite Warship

A visit to the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth which houses Henry VIII's flagship, the Mary Rose. The Mary Rose sank during the Battle of the Solent on 19 July, 1545 as the English faced Francis I's French invasion force of over 200 ships and 30,000 troops, which was larger than the future Spanish Armada. In all, some 400 sailors and soldiers onboard the Mary Rose perished. The recovery project took place in 1982.
