This finish was applied to a few Les Paul Customs in late1974-early1977 (believed to be around 50, with no real evidence to back that up.) These started life as off-white with black back and sides. It is quite a cool look! This road-worn example showcases that the whole guitar started "white" and then was sprayed over black on the back as Gibson's finishing process. Maybe these only existed as factory cover-up models? As the guitar wears, the white finish pops through which is a pretty cool effect!
