What a joule thief is and how to make a joule thief to run an LED off of a dead battery, or a zombie battery. The zombies in this video will sound strangely familiar to anyone familiar with Minecraft. This uses a NTE123AP transistor, a 820 ohm resistor, an LED, a toroid ferrite core wrapped with 30 gauge and 26 gauge wire coils, and a breadboard.
