Terminator Genisys Aged Arnold Explained Subscribe Now! ► http://bit.ly/SubClevverMovies One of the biggest head scratchers when it comes to next summer’s Terminator Genisys is just how in the heck do you have 67-year old Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his role as the titular Terminator? Well, thanks to original franchise writer and director James Cameron, we have our answer. Before we start, just a warning that what we’re about to discuss could be considered spoilers, so continue at your own risk. Okay, though the plot of the fifth Terminator is being kept under wraps, we do know it will revisit some of the events and timeline of the first two films with Game of Thrones’s Emilia Clarke taking over as “Sarah Connor”, Jai Courtney playing her protector slash baby daddy “Kyle Reese”, Jason Clarke playing their offspring and savior of humanity “John Connor” and Schwarzenegger reprising his role as a T-800 Terminator. Though Cameron is not directly involved with the film, he did reveal that he helped the producers figure out a way to include Schwarzenegger in the sequel slash reboot. While celebrating the original film’s 30th anniversary at a special screening in Los Angeles, Cameron hinted to Deadline that Schwarzenegger will play a Terminator that was sent back in time, but missed his target and ended up living out his days in society. Since the Terminator’s outer covering is organic, he ages and with a central processor that allow him to learn, this new old Terminator will have become more human having lived among them for decades. This explains why, from set photos we’ve seen, he’s working with Sarah and the others rather than attempting to kill them. We’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out on the big screen when Terminator Genisys arrives in theaters on July 1st, but Cameron has said he’s distancing himself from the franchise and instead focusing on his 3 Avatar sequels which are set to arrive in theaters starting in 2016. So what’s the chance we could see Cameron return to the franchise he created one day? He sold the rights for a mere dollar many years ago and will have the option to buy them back come 2019, right in time for this next trilogy to end. We’ll have to wait and see if that happens, but considering he created one of the best sequels ever with Terminator 2, our fingers are crossed.
